Make the most of your mistakes

Make the most of your mistakes

While recently watching a YouTube video created by my friend "Brews-n-Hacks" (Ryan) I saw that he had added a "Bloopers" reel to the end of his video. This made me laugh, and I started to think about mistakes I have made when recording videos.

For those new to creating content, sharing videos with the world can be very intimidating. I really enjoy sharing what I have learned with others, but it is definitely out of my comfort zone to do so on video. I have been told by so many people, "Just hit that record button!" I know that I will get better with practice, so I just need to start doing it.

After watching Ryan's blooper video, I told him he should share it with the Simply Cyber community. It would help people see that everyone makes mistakes, and it may very well lower the barrier for those struggling with getting started.

Sharing mistakes is valuable, it shows others that we are all human and that we can learn and grow. Someone may feel less inadequate after seeing you share your mistakes. So, don't be afraid to put them out there and follow up with how you learned from it.

When you are ready to get started with creating content, feel free to reach out to the Simply Cyber community on Discord. There you will find plenty of people willing to help you get started.

Don't let "Imposter Syndrome" get the best of you.

Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern where individuals doubt their accomplishments and have a persistent fear of being exposed as a fraud, despite evident success. People experiencing it often attribute their achievements to luck rather than skill and may feel they don’t deserve their position or recognition. It’s common in high-achievers and professionals entering new roles, including those transitioning into cybersecurity or starting a business. It’s more common than you think!

Lets work together to help one another overcome imposter syndrome and encourage one another. I have definitely found that encouragement from Dr. Gerald Auger, PhD and the Simply Cyber community!
