Doing OSINT 4 good
For many years now, I have been interested in using my technical skills to help with investigations of illegal activity. During my 10 years in Law Enforcement, I wanted to get into computer crime investigation. Unfortunately, there weren't any openings, so I decided to volunteer to help out in that area on my off days. I would go into the office on my off days to help with extracting information from confiscated computers and conducting search warrants. It was very rewarding.
I have been fascinated by technology for many years now. I have also recently become interested in OSINT. I am a very curious person and I enjoy learning new things. Once I hear about a new tool or software, I am eager to check it out. I set it up on a VPS or local machine and see how it works. I then document the process on my blog to show that I know how to use it and provide myself with a reference for later use.
I have a great interest in using my technical skills to impact lives for the better. As I have been researching OSINT I have seen many tags related to #osint4good. These are the types of projects that feed my interest in technology, investigation, and doing work that impacts lives for the better. I can't think of any work that would be more rewarding to me than helping organizations like the NCPTF and OUR Rescue locate victims of human trafficking and exploitation. I am aware that this type of work can have a great impact on the mental health of those conducting the research. I am familiar with this type of impact due to my 10 years of Law Enforcement experience.
I am seeking opportunities to participate in #osint4good projects. I am still learning about OSINT, but I am a quick learner and very curious. I would be more than happy to volunteer my time to help in this area of research. If you know of any volunteer opportunities, please feel free to contact me.
