VoIP Alternative

Non-VoIP phone numbers to successfully very accounts

Setting up "sock puppet" or "research" accounts can be frustrating. There are a few ways to get around verifying a new social media account with a phone number, such as registering with an email address. This can be accomplished for example by using an email address, but it must be one that will not trigger the fraud detection on these platforms. I have found Fastmail to be successful, but be sure to use the .us and not .com when you set up your account.

SMS Pool has a quick order button to order a number, just choose a country and even area code if desired. Once you have placed the order, you will be issued a phone number which you can then use for authentication. After submitting the phone number to the service you are trying to sign up for , return to the SMS Pool dashboard to see your verification code.

I have had success using this service and the cost is minimal. Once you have successfully verified the new "sock puppet" account you can go ahead and set up 2FA and change the phone number to a VoIP of Google Voice number. This is necessary, because you will lose access to the phone number from SMS Pool after verification.

This is just one option that has proven successful. If you are familiar with other proven solutions, I would appreciate your feedback.
