Business Due Diligence Week 1

Business Due Diligence Week 1

Last year, I had the opportunity to take the "Foundations of OSINT" which was an amazing 8-week cohort training. It was really a great experience and I learned a lot. The instructors were always available, helpful and happy to guide you on the journey.

This past week, I began the "Business Due Diligence" course from the OSINT Academy. This course is self-paced and is estimated to take approximately 4-weeks. I am confident that this course will be just as great as the last one. My goals is to develop better skills and methodologies related to domestic and international business investigations.

Course Overview

During this 4-week self-paced course, students will focus on different aspects of investigative due diligence. This intensive course focuses on applying the principles and practices of the CRAWL(TM) methodology to due diligence investigations. Participants will develop a mindset-first approach, initiating the client intake process and framing their investigations using Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) and the CRAWL™ method.

Learners will explore various types of due diligence investigations, including competitive, investigative, and intelligence-driven cases. The course will also cover strategic reasons for hiring consultants, essential preparatory steps for successful investigations, and prepping for different analytical report styles. Students will leave this course with the ability to apply critical thinking, analysis and report writing skills to in a business due diligence setting.

This course uses OSINT: The Authoritative Guide to Due Diligence as the foundation for the materials presented.

Week 1 Takeaways

  • The importance of understanding the C.R.A.W.L methodology, before you begin your investigation.
  • Having a good understanding of the tools and resources needed to meet the clients expectations and avoid any surprises.
  • The importance of gaining understanding of business language and operations.
  • The importance of developing and documenting a phased approach to remain efficient and ability to replicate your steps.

I'm looking forward to week 2!
